Craft day.

Now that I am done with the semester i wanted to get some crafting out of the way. Today I made a sewing machine cover. I used this tutorial I found online and made it my own. This is what I cam up
with.

Its not perfect and its not straight. I am such an immature sewer but this will do. =)

So, now that this semester of school is over for 2 1/2 weeks. We can focus on more important things like OUR WEDDING SHOWER!! woot woot. Long story short my parents are hosting it (more like my mom), we are having it our house (because she lives in California) and our friends are organizing the games. Happy Easter!

Happy Easter or Passover (depending on what you celebrate, I don't really do either), but i am anxiously awaiting Peters Mom and step-dad and my ham to come out of the oven.  I am very nervous on how it is going to come out. =/

so.. lets take a walk down memory lane

So almost a year ago, yup this project has taken me almost a year. This is what we started with.. brown eek.  (Do you remember those? yuck.)

Well, i painted and painted and painted for almost a year and finally finished it yesterday. I painted the walls Talc from Martha Steart and I love the brown/white color and I painted the ceiling ballet slipper pink which is just so creamy and makes me smile every time I say the name. The curtain (flower) I bought at Jo ann's and did a no-sew curtain, which i love and was so easy. The other curtains in place of the bi-fold doors I took down i bought from ikea over christmas. And the mirror/chalkboard is back up stairs. It was a $10 find from habitat for humanity that is now black. love! 

I also added a linen closet in this space because we don't have one and this will be empty a lot of the time.

SKLA

So, yesterday before my massive exam my friend sara and I went to starbucks. I saw a bunch of my old customers which was awsome. I ordered a skinny carmel macchiato (SKCM) and got it for FREE, the manager told me it was on the house, which was awsome. But he wrote on the the cup SKLA or thats what it looked like. The barista steve was making fun of it and called it a tall skinny LA.. hey that's me! is what i thought. It just made me laugh and smile for the rest of the day. I passed my really big exam and i have one more to go. Isn't it funny how someone, a complete stranger, can say or do something and it makes everything simple and better. I love that.

Where you've been..

I have been super busy with work (being in high demand for a week) and school with finals creeping up on me and I told peters mom i would cook easter dinner (why did i say that) and the half marathon i signed up to get motivated (still not working and its less than 2 weeks away) and the BIG wedding shower is slowly approaching.. WHY OH WHY!

well that sums it up in a nutshell and besides working 43 hours last week its been tough. I have a really big test tomorrow that i can no longer study for because my brain might explode with kidney function and cast placements (OH BOY, RIGHT? yeah thats me right now and mix it up with some cancer and were good to go)

Anyways, i completed my 2nd baby blanket this year, a couple weeks ago and just mailed it so here you go.  It is going to my friend Amy (I call her Amyers) (she already has it, so i can post it now)

stuff & storage

Its hard to believe, but 21/2 years ago we moved across the country (2000 miles) to chicago than eventually to here to Champaign-Urbana. This is the car and trailer we drove that is all the stuff we took with us. Now we live in a house with minimal storage mainly due to the fact that it is so old and now we don't know where to put all of our stuff. We lack a linen closet or something like it. So i came up with this idea of putting our bed linens in our room somewhere.

I bought this ottoman off of craigslist for $20 ( i know its a bit pricy but i kinda love it) Anyways, it now sits under the window. I bought this basket for $10 from Michaels and wah-la! easy linen storage. yay! What do you do for storage?

IT'S FINISHED (for now) .. yay! My bedroom of course.. I am so happy with the way that it came out and that it is done and non-stressful to walk into any more.

What do you think of a clutch/purse. I will be getting ready at the venue which both the ceremony and reception will be held so I will have everything an elevator ride away. Do I really need a purse or something like it?

Ok so while I am re doing my master bedroom I needed to make the lamp on my side a little more shabby cheek and color full than some shade of brown and gold
You can see it over here with the wonky beige lamp shade and the gold post.

Here is the after, after some white glossy spray paint and some fabric, oh the wonders. 

so much better, I had the white spray paint and spent $2.50 on the fabric. The lamp shade I bought from target for $10, so totaling 12.50 for a new lamp, thats pretty good.
