Roller derby awards: DC VS Marvel

So, I mentioned my first bout with my new team here in LA
in case you missed it, Here it is

Anyways, I was asked to make the trophies for the event
6 in total:
2- for best jammer
2- for best blocker
2- overall MVP

In going with the theme dc vs marvel comics I found these Spider-Man toys and the barbies at the dollar store, asked my league for extra old skate wheels, took everything to my dads and this is what we came up with..

My dad had extra wood in which he made the bases and the pole
And attached a dowel rod to the pole and made a hole in the skate

The Barbie has a welding rod up her but to keep her stable. They were spray painted appropriately and done. I loved making these guys.
What do you think?

Dear hubby

This is your psa, this series is for my husband but you can read it too.. You have been warned

Dear hubby, as my belly grows I become more confident that you will be an amazing father.
I am truly blessed to call you my husband.
If you would have told me a year ago that we would be living in California with good jobs, expecting our first child and couldn't be happier .. I probably wouldn't have believed you.
I am so glad we have taken all those risks to be here, it has been worth it to be on this roller coaster called life with you. I can't wait to take the next step with you when we are parents.

I love your face P.

Bump Update: 20 weeks

Sorry for the delay and the minus one week.. my vacation kinda screwed things up there..
so lets get back on track shall we.

How Far Along: 20 weeks.. half way
Total Weight Gain/ Loss:  +6 (from Dr's apt on monday).. I was concerned that I am not gaining weight like I should be, but according to my dr I should only gain 20 lbs this pregnancy which put my mind at ease and we will take it as it comes. The baby is measuring where its suppose to be and the hr is good and the baby is taking whatever it needs from mommy so we are all on the right track.

Maternity Clothes: pretty much the only clothes I wear now and I just got my work uniforms so super comfy
Stretch Marks: Nope, not yet.
Best Moment This week:  My hubby coming with me to my prenatal visit and hearing the hr and getting excited about this peanut
Miss Anything: Good Sushi
Movement: there's some funny business happening in there for sure
Sleep: The same, I just steal all of P's pillows when he is gone and make an indentation in my spot
Food: everything
Anything Making you Queasy or Sick: Not this week.

Have you started to show yet: yes its small, but its there
Gender Predictions: I don't know. P is saying girl who he calls Suzie and I still think boy.
I don't want to find out, but P does because he wants a little red headed girl.
Labor signs: No.
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding ring on or off: On.
Happy or Moody: Mostly happy.
Looking forward to: We have a sonogram next tuesday

Winner winner, chicken dinner

Well, not really.. But just go with it.

So, when I moved here I had all my running medals in a plastic baggy and decided I need somewhere to display them, so I asked my dad for something simple and pretty
This is what we came up with

It has a ledge so that the back of the ribbons don't interfere with the wall

It's very simple and functional.
I love it, what do you think? Do you hang up your medals for everyone to see?

Date night: Book of Mormon

It seems like forever ago, It was actually January 21st.
We were both home P said lets do something and I said find something for us to do.

Well, he stumbled across the musical, Book of Mormon as an option.
If you didn't know they do a lottery before every performance to fill the open seats.
If you win the lottery it is $25 (cash only) and they give you a seat, pretty good for a musical)
We found this out when P lived in Chicago, but was never chosen.

We also planned a free dinner concert plan just incase we didn't get tickets.
So we headed out to Hollywood and crossed our fingers.
We filled out our ballots with those little tiny pencils you can barely write with
and took a seat on the floor  of the beautiful foyer.

Well, they did the lottery and little did we know if was opening night.
They just kept drawing which seemed like 40+ names.
They finally drew P's name and boom we were in!

YAY! it was so exciting.
We took out our handy dandy yelp out and found an awsome gastro pub that had pizzas & salads,
( I don't remember the name but its across the street from Amoeba)
which we probably would have never found.

Than headed back over to the show.
Little did we know that our seats were in the FIRST ROW, it was so cool to see them sweat and spit as they sang, it made them more human.
It was not what I was expecting, I am not sure what I was expecting.
BUT, I absolutely loved it.
Go team Arnold. :)
