DIY Baby shower

A couple weekends ago I shared with you a baby shower I threw for my sister in law here

Well, I am back to show you all the decor

The flowers for the center pieces on the tables were made from this post, I did stickers and cupcake liners.

The napkins were made using this tutorial

The runner was made from chevron fabric from hobby lobby and the same tutorial for the meitered corner look

The banners were used from scrap paper I had and cut into triangles and than used ribbon to attach all of the triangles together and hung with tape.

I used my scrabble letters and

decorated the window in our dinning room accordingly

The fruit cups were made using this tutorial

The veggie tray was made by mil and her husband.
I would say it was a success.

I loved decorating for this party.
How do you decorate for a baby shower?

Something new, something old ..

When i say that you automatically think of a wedding well this post is not about that.
After discussing this with a work mate i had to share with you
my favoriteist (yes thats a word in my dictionary) quilt.

THE T-SHIRT QUILT

My parents may be pack rats but they kept shirts from when I was born until a little after high school
my mom blocked them together than sent them to my grandmother who sewed them all together and embroidered each shirt.

This was the last quilt my grandmother could quilt because she is getting too old to see what she is doing.

I picked out the backing, it is pink polka dots =)
We use it on our bed, and I absolutely love it.

Side note (a couple months later as this is sitting in my draft box) I looked at the quilt and thought of all the memories associated with the different shirts.  I do not remeber how I obtained most of the shirts just the memory of the day or the event. I thought it was pretty cool.

Pretty awsome, right?
Do you have anything like it?

pinspiration: head band

I found this photo on pinterest

a million months ago

I had some lace laying around (the perfect length)

I cut around the lace and followed the flowers

I added an inch of elastic

sewn at the ends

and wa-la! I love the vintage look
Finne.
What do you think? easy peasy.
Whats your pinspiration this week?

Cover up that baby

This is an older project that I never documented, but had to share.
(Pics from the weekend coming soon)

A co-worker/ friend approached me about making a car seat cover

I started doing my reasearch and decided I wanted something soft, slightly heavy duty (to be a somewhat of a noise barrier), warm (to be used as a blanket if needed) and I wanted straps to attach to the car seat, I used velcro

I wanted the cover to flip up or down to peek on baby

I used flannel on one side and soft fleece on the other. All fabrics were bought at Jo-Anns with a coupon.
This is a simple project. Follow a simple blaket pattern
(I didn;t use any batting in the middle)
and all strap in the middle of your blanket.
YES!! it is that simple.

What do you think? Would you use one?
