The birthday party: 2013

If you remember from last year I was burnt out and overdone with holidays, by the time my birthday came around I through this pitty party

So, this year was different. I wanted a BIG party.
I knew I wanted red and teal as colors
These were the invitation I made using an embossing pin to write out you are invited, my little cricket for the cupcake teal washi tape and red polka dot vellum for the flag. I used flat scalloped red cards from paper source in teal envelopes.

I
I really like the way it came out.

I found some inspiration on pinterest, of course.

1. I love the fad  of the DIY food stations
this is an ice cream/ hot chocolate bar

2. I love this wine and cheese pairing

3. Love the instructions on kraft paper

This was my rendition:
(sorry I have no pictures of the actual party)

Wine pairings table

This was the hot chocolate and ice cream station

Both were a hit.

We also had cupcakes from a local bakery, that did our wedding cake, that I absolutely love

Onto decorations:
The kitchen, I made red and teal tissue paper pom poms

In the dinning room there were pom poms and these vellum hanging mobiles
 next to our themed window

What was your last party theme? Try anything new? What do you think?

The evolution of ugly christmas sweater parties

It started in the December of 2007, We went to (perhaps our first) ugly christmas sweater party.
We waited till the last minute and couldn't really find anything..
This is what we came up with

too cute? I know.

After we got our own house we decided we wanted to throw our own annual ugly christmas sweater party.
It started in 2010 with a limited amount of people

This party has evolved from there to an annual tradition.
This is a recap of 2011

This year was a whole new world of awsomeness, I will post later with pictures of that party and how I made my own sweater vest this year.

Did you go to any ugly christmas sweater parties this year?

DIY Baby shower

A couple weekends ago I shared with you a baby shower I threw for my sister in law here

Well, I am back to show you all the decor

The flowers for the center pieces on the tables were made from this post, I did stickers and cupcake liners.

The napkins were made using this tutorial

The runner was made from chevron fabric from hobby lobby and the same tutorial for the meitered corner look

The banners were used from scrap paper I had and cut into triangles and than used ribbon to attach all of the triangles together and hung with tape.

I used my scrabble letters and

decorated the window in our dinning room accordingly

The fruit cups were made using this tutorial

The veggie tray was made by mil and her husband.
I would say it was a success.

I loved decorating for this party.
How do you decorate for a baby shower?

Rainbow themed graduation party..

Do you remember the invitations from here
They were Dr. Seuss inspired

The quote from the invites said," If you never did, you should. These things are fun and fun is good." - Dr. Seuss

The bnack was a poem-ish thing I made up about acting like kids. So the party was for adults with kid concepts.

Well the party took place while on my va-CA talked about here

I made a wall decoration of paper streamers.. super easy
Which hung behind the candy bar

I picked up 6 of these frames from michael's for $1.50 and had a 20% off your whole purchase coupon

There were goodie bags of toys from our childhood. I picked up a couple bouquets of flower from trader joes for $20 total and put them in 10 of these dollar tree vases

We made a rainbow balloon garland, which was really easy.
At first we had a hard time keeping them from not popping from static.

We also had a drink station. Each cup had a piece of paper on it for people to put their names on it.
You know because you put your cup down forget about it and get a new one.

What do you think of my party?
I am so happy how it turned out and everyone had a great time.
